Physical Therapy

Dr. Jeff Taylor currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at High Point University. He is a former Board-Certified Specialist in both Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He is the Research Chair for APTA Orthopaedics.

Dr. Taylor’s research focuses on the prevention and rehabilitation of lower extremity athletic injuries, with a particular focus on knee injuries. He has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and Adidas International to study the prevention of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in adolescent female athletes and the effects of shoe design on athlete biomechanics. He has co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers and more than 150 scientific conference abstracts and 4 book chapters.

Dr. Taylor brings to the team over 20 years of experience in physical therapy clinical practice, administration, teaching, and research. He has a strong understanding of the clinical importance of assessing knee laxity for injury risk and post injury evaluation and treatment outcomes, and the need for accurate and precise measurement tools that are accessible to both emerging and experienced physical therapists. He has represented the voice of the physical therapist end user in our prior funded work, including the design and development of our knee arthrometer (NCBC grant #2021-BIG-6701).
